From the annals of resistible offers

November 13, 2021

In yesterday’s mailbox, this indirect attempt to get me to post (about) something on this blog (untouched except for suppressing its header and the link):

With all do the respect,

I am hitting your inbox without any introduction, sorry for that.

BUT…. we did put around 230+ hours into this article about the most popular dog breeds in the world. (scanned 96 countries)

So check it:

The long johns, the erection, and the cruise face

November 12, 2021

(Significant mentions of erections, plus a photo of a barely covered one, displayed with carnal intent — so not to everyone’s taste.)

This morning’s ad from Daily Jocks offers extremely form-fitting long johns from Helsinki Athletica, modeled in such a calculatedly raunchy way that I broke out in helpless laughter.

The ad copy for the garment (illustration under the fold):

SPECIAL PURCHASE: 40% OFF LONG JOHNS

The Helsinki Athletica Long Johns [AZ: note Ad-Copy Capitalization] are made from premium modal [AZ: modal fabric is made by spinning beech bark cellulose] which forms to your skin with ultimate comfort, whilst showing off your best assets. [AZ: If you got ’em, flaunt ’em!]

These Long Johns are only available for 1 week per year! [AZ: I’m not sure we could survive an extended display of them.]

From the legends of Brino and Bantam

November 11, 2021

(Mostly just silly, or chicken-oriented, but there are two interludes involving male genitals and sex between men, so not suitable for kids or the sexually modest.)

Today’s Wayno/Piraro Bizarro, in which a superboy swings with a miniature superchicken:

(#1) Wayno’s title: “Wardrobe Choices”(If you’re puzzled by the odd symbols in the cartoon — Dan Piraro says there are only 2 in this strip — see this Page.)

Interlude 1: I have a poem for this:

Dirty words and dirty briefs

November 11, 2021

(Yes, as the title should tell you, this posting is not for kids or the sexually modest. It would be entirely unacceptable to Facebook, which is why I don’t link to it on Facebook, but merely tell my readers there where on my blog — this blog — they can find this posting.)

Originally this was supposed to be one of my brief postings, or briefs, in this case about some dirty talk; but then the idea of dirty briefs led me on in further directions in the garment world: to men’s briefs with dirty talk on them, and to wordless underwear that is dirty with the effluvia of the wearer’s body. It’s all one big tangle of senses of dirty and senses of brief. (However: no legal briefs were soiled, or even touched (upon), in the preparation of this posting.)

Four cartoons on familiar themes

November 10, 2021

… in recent days, covering a wide territory: in chronological order,

—  from 10/31, a Mother Goose and Grimm Psychiatrist cartoon with a Halloween theme and some puns

— from the 11/1 New Yorker, a Desert Crawl cartoon by David Sipress

— from 11/3, a Zippy strip with Zippylicious repetition (onomatomania)

— from 11/9, a Rhymes With Orange with a notable POP (phrasal overlap portmanteau)

Dick Dino decor

November 9, 2021

(Well, yes, penis-simulacra heavy on the ground, so unwelcome to some eyes, though it’s all pretty silly. But there’s the warning.)

It started with this dickosaurus photo from Aric Olnes:

A September wedding

November 8, 2021

Yes, I know. Terribly late — six weeks late! — but I am badly behind on everything. In any case: my good friend (a boyfriend way back in the past) Dean Allemang married Tim Allemang (formerly Tim Beers) on Saturday afternoon, September 25th, at the Columbus OH Center of Science and Industry (at 333 W. Broad St.). A reception — cocktail hour and dinner — and dancing followed at the Boathouse at Confluence Park (where the Olentangy joins the Scioto River in Columbus). The couple then traveled on their honeymoon.

There are many ways to arrange these things, and this is one, adapting the traditional forms minimally for a male couple. I admire that, and I’m sorry that I’m no longer able to travel and couldn’t take part.

The cover of the wedding announcement:

How delightful. May they sail on together for decades to come.

They had a very long pre-marriage period to establish themselves as a loving couple composed of two independent people — something of a trick for any married couple, but especially complex for same-sex couples (who don’t have a traditional structure to fall back on if they wish, but pretty much have to negotiate everything).

Dean’s dad Denny was there to welcome Tim into his family with enthusiasm. (I recall my own dad’s great pleasure at gaining my man Jacques as a second son.) Dean’s mother Peg died in 2018, but I’m sure her clear-minded energetic spirit suffused the event. (Once the lion of the local PFLAG, Peg joined me for several years in carrying the OSU banner in the Columbus Gay Pride Parade.)

Briefs: the chromatic landscape of life and death

November 7, 2021

(Note: no men’s underwear was abused in the preparation of this posting.)

From Kyle Wohlmut on Facebook this morning:

What is the color of immortality? A flat grayish off-white, extending to infinity. Mortality, on the other hand, is a transparent blue, filling all the space around you; swatches available from the Derek Jarman company.

The Crosse-Jones spunk affair

November 6, 2021

(The spunk in question is semen, so, yes, we’re going on another adventure with men’s genitals and sex between men, so this posting isn’t suitable for kids or the sexually modest.)

[Background note: see my 10/30/21 posting “Bearing the face for our era”, about the faces of Carolus-Duran (late 19th-century European art world) and Peter Korn (early 21st-century Silicon Valley tech world).]

Today’s story starts with my coming across Face 1 below (from a Lucas Films photo), on the cover art for the gay porn DVD London Spunked.

(#1) On the expression: narrowed eyes, lowered brows, intense gaze, somewhat tight mouth — possibly conveying a challenge, or dominance

We are all attentive to faces: we usually look at them first when we view a scene with figures in it, we check them to see if they’re familiar, we try to interpret their facial expressions, and so on. In this case, I think that, in any context whatsoever, on a quick view I’d have identified Face 1 as belonging to the same person as Face 2, a face I know very well (as a favorite actor in gay porn):

(#2) A different facial expression: eyes somewhat widened (especially his right eye), brows somewhat raised (especially his right brow), gaze alert but not intense, corners of the mouth slightly raised to make the hint of a smile — possibly conveying friendly interest

The two men have the same hair style and facial hair style, though #2 is darker and longer in both respects, but that could be just a temporary matter of grooming. #2’s skin tone is more golden-brown than #1’s pale skin, but that could just be tanning, or the lighting of the photos. #2 has a furry chest (visible at the neckline), while #1 is smooth, but that could just be a matter of trimming (in fact, the guy in #1 is not very furry, but keeps his chest trimmed down but not actually smooth, while the guy is #2 is naturally furry as above, but often trims his chest hair in similar fashion.

But then, but then …
