Dad’s tall tales

April 28, 2018

Two Calvin and Hobbes cartoons that came past me recently, showing Calvin’s dad spouting misinformation about birth and infant development:

(#1)

(#2)

A form of parental kidding, almost always performed by a father rather than a mother, and most commonly directed at a boy — here a deliberate scheme of messing with the kid’s mind.

Drove my Chevrolet

April 28, 2018

On Facebook, Jeff Bowles links to a Pearls Before Swine I don’t seem to have posted about:

(#1)

Another one of Stephan Pastis’s elaborate puns, set up through a wandering tale — and complete with a rebuke from Rat to the cartoonist.

Another portmanrito

April 28, 2018

Into a world that already has the Whopperrito, the Sushirrito, and the turkerito there now bursts the Protein Bar-rito (from the Protein Bar & Kitchen). Where will this end?

Photo on the hoof by Mike Pope, from the Protein Bar location at 151 N. Michigan Ave. in Chicago:

Hugely muscular androgyny

April 27, 2018

About bodies and their presentations.

But the hair. And especially the clothes.

What’s wild and patriotic and orange all over?

April 27, 2018

That would be the national day of the Netherlands, currently known as King’s Day and celebrated today (April 27th), but it’s a movable feast.

This posting is inspired by this photo of two American friends (now resident in Den Haag) celebrating King’s Day:

Husbands Matt and Justin Adams, breaking out in Dutch orange (with red, white, and blue highlights)

Two contributing factors that intersect in the name Caesar.

Just posted on AZBlogX, “On the piss patrol”, about the Urinal Piss Gag (I’m not making this up); piss drinking; and piss play in general.
