A Daily Jocks flash offer

(A male model in nothing but totally revealing cotton briefs, mention of penises and stud hustling, so not suitable for kids or the sexually modest.)

A Daily Jocks sale ad that came in my e-mail yesterday:

The ad copy: There’s nothing basic about these high-quality everyday undies – made from a super soft cotton with added elastane for comfort and breathability, these are comfortable and supportive in all the right places.

Four things:

— 1 the commercial term flash offer, a variant of flash sale. Brief account from NOAD:

compound noun flash sale: a sale of goods at greatly reduced prices, lasting for only a short period of time: the retailer staged a flash sale on the Saturday before Christmas, with 30% reductions off clothing lines.

More from the Big Commerce site on “What are flash sales?”:

A flash sale is a discount or promotion offered by an ecommerce store for a short period of time. The quantity is limited, which often means the discounts are higher or more significant than run-of-the-mill promotions. The time limit and limited availability entice consumers to buy on the spot – aka impulse buying.

But then there are readings of flash sale / offer as Adj + N. From NOAD:

adj. flash: 1[a] informal, mainly British (of a thing) ostentatiously expensive, elaborate, or up to date: a flash new car [b] (of a person) superficially attractive because stylish and full of brash charm: he was carrying this money around and trying to be flash. 2 archaic relating to thieves, prostitutes, or the underworld, especially their language.

The last of these adjectival flash words is possibly appropriate for thing 4 below.

— 2 the model’s body, which, sans tats, is very much my man Jacques’s body, so I am especially drawn to this model (and might well have posted this image before, in a different context)

— 3 the flagrant image that leaves nothing to the imagination; this is a notable cock, entirely visible though the sheerest of cotton coverings. That’s fine with me — I’m a fancier of cock — but I’d think the image should at least merit a NFSW caution.

— 4 the effect you get by cutting things down to the offer, which can then be read as offering the model (and perhaps others in his modeling service) as stud hustlers, at a bargain price for this sale. A prospect that tickles my fancy, though actual prices are not advertised in the offer; high-end stud hustlers come at a startlingly high cost.

This also made me think of the verb flash in the sense of a brief showing of genitals.
