More from the annals of commercial names, thanks to this Facebook report from Steven Levine, on the road in Asbury Park NJ:
On the way to Ocean Grove NJ for a weekend with some friends, our culinary tour of the Jersey Shore, I passed this sign:
(#1) The Meat & More Corporation of Asbury Park: a butcher shop, noted here for its double entendre name
My 1/19/17 posting “Meaty matters” has something of a survey of raunchy plays on the word meat (though the field is vast), including this chef’s apron:
(#2) The prevailing view is the more meat the better — in Spanish, entre más carne mejor (in my 8/14/24 posting “Los pozoles, como el sexo”, the Mexican Spanish dirty joke el pozole como el sexo, entre más puerco mejor ‘[the pork and hominy stew] pozole is like sex, the more meat the better’, which I’ve adapted by substituting carne ‘meat’ for puerco)
The 2017 posting goes on to provide an alternative view, in the song “It Ain’t the Meat, It’s the Motion”, whose title has become a catchphrase and an idiom: conveying ‘when it comes to sexual satisfaction, penis size doesn’t matter, but technique does’ and (more generally) ‘the tools you use to accomplish a goal are not as important as what you do with them’.
