The torrid unpleasantness continues. Back on 10/2 the local temperature reached a brutal 102F; since then, it’s dropped into the 90s, but not by a whole lot. 96 yesterday, 96 today, 96 tomorrow, then maybe actual autumn.
In fact, yesterday in Palo Alto was 102 again, and today’s high is predicted to be 93, but relief is still predicted for tomorrow. Meanwhile, there’s a counteractive chill in today’s Wayno / Piraro Bizarro, showing Tarzan and Cheeta(h) at the intensely cold summit of Mt. Everest, claiming the peak, the apex of the mountain, for the (see the flag) Banana Republic, the chimpanzee’s native land:

The Tarzan story. From my 12/10/15 posting “On the shirtless hunk watch: the Skarsgård Tarzan”, on Swedish muscle-hunk Alexander Skarsgård — Alexander of the Abs, as I think of him — in the 2016 movie The Legend of Tarzan; and on the Tarzan story in print and on screen (with special attention to Buster Crabbe in the role, who’s the Tarzan — and the Flash Gordon — of my teenage fantasies).
John Clayton, Viscount Greystoke was raised in the jungle by apes; he then experiences modern civilization; but returns to the jungle to engage in heroic adventures as Tarzan. The core stories feature Tarzan; his great love Jane Porter; and his jungle sidekick the chimpanzee Cheeta(h).

About the chimpanzee. From Wikipedia:
Cheeta (sometimes billed as Cheetah, Cheta, and Chita) is a chimpanzee character that appeared in numerous Hollywood Tarzan films of the 1930s–1960s, as well as the 1966–1968 television series, as the ape sidekick of the title character, Tarzan.
Portrayed by a large number of chimps over the years.
Meanwhile, the Phantom. Another urbane jungle hero who moved from the comics to movies and tv. From my 3/31/17 posting “The Phantom of the jungle library”, with Billy Zane’s 1996 performance as Kit Walker (raised in the U.S., college-educated, and NYC-savvy), who goes on to assume his hereditary role as the 21st Phantom; in his jungle stronghold the hero works shirtless, so that we can appreciate his sweaty pecs:
(#3) In costume in the movie, BZ is a comic book character, and appropriately heroic; but as Kit Walker, he’s charming, clever, and resourceful — not to mention wonderfully sexy, so I like to imagine BZ taking on the role of John Clayton, Viscount Greystoke
