Zippy’s character actor

Today’s Zippy, with a new surreal thread:

(Note that Lazlo has Zippy’s topknot on his desk.)

Here I’m interested in the name. Of course, there’s no one actually named Lazlo Crannich (that I could find, anyway). I’m pretty sure I know where the Lazlo comes from — Lazlo, so spelled, is not at all a common name — but on Crannich I just made a wild guess, which took me to scenic Scotland.

Lazlo. In the comics! From Wikipedia on Camp Lazlo:

Camp Lazlo is an American animated television series created by Joe Murray and produced by his company Joe Murray Productions with Cartoon Network Studios. The series premiered on Cartoon Network on July 8, 2005. The show revolves around Lazlo, a spider monkey who attends a Boy Scout-like summer camp with a cast of anthropomorphic animal characters. The series has a style of humor similar to Murray’s previous series, Rocko’s Modern Life.

The three main characters:

Left to right: Raj the Indian elephant, Lazlo the optimistic monkey, Clam the albino pygmy rhinoceros.

Crannich. Most websites with Crannick in them have to do with the Crannich Holiday Caravans & Touring Site, which advertises itself this way:

We offer self catering holiday caravans & a small friendly campsite for motor-homes, campervans & touring caravans at Crannich Farm within 150 acres of farmland in Glen Aros near Loch Frisa on the Isle of Mull, Argyll, Scotland

The location is central on the island between Salen & Dervaig with great walks, panoramic views of the glen, walking distance to Loch Frisa and the rivers Aros, & Bellart with the Morvern hills in the distance . Quiet rural setting with good access, pet friendly with fantastic sunsets [and lots of interesting birds].

A view of Salen Bay:

Frankly, I just enjoyed the photos; I have no idea what Crannich Farm might have to do with the comics or acting.
