Big and Small

It started with an image passed on to me by Mike McKinley, of two young, lean buddies displaying their penises (at some sort of public event — it’s a puzzling picture): one small, the other about twice his size. The photo can be viewed on AZBlogX, here. That leads us to the topic of penis size, which has appeared on this blog before. And then to images of big vs. small things, which seem to function as metaphors in business literature (the virtues of big vs. small advertising agencies, for instance) and also to be a frequent pairing in literature for children (for whom body-size contrasts are personally significant).

Penis size. On this blog, the central posting is “A matter of size” from 1/12/13, with a survey of material on penis size (plus a discussion of gay pornstar Ken Ryker and his legendarily big penis). Then two slighter postings: “A matter of size II: the sale” from 1/14/13, reporting on a “big dick sale” at Falcon / Raging Stallion Studios, with material on big and its synonyms in the gay porn context; and “Size again” of 3/24/13, with a Canon ad playing with body size, penis size, and camera size.

The business metaphor. Size contrasts — a big apple vs. a small one, a big animal vs. a small one, etc. — seem to come up frequently in writing about business. Here’s an illustration to go along with a Marketing Bureau piece on big businesses vs. small ones:

For the kids. Kids are touched by contrasts between big and small, as in this tv show for preschoolers:

Big & Small is a British children’s television series aimed at preschoolers. Big & Small is a co-production between Kindle Entertainment and 3J’s Productions produced in association with the BBC, Treehouse TV, and Studio 100. The first series was deemed a success worldwide and a second series was commissioned by the BBC. The show is a live action comedy for preschoolers, and follows the lives of puppets. (Wikipedia link)

And now on AZBlogX, five images of men comparing penises that differ notably in length or thickness or both.
