Shirtless on the Great Plains

(Not much about language.)

Tim Evanson reported on Google+ yesterday that he was driving to North Dakota. And posted this scenic photo:

  (#1)

[Tim writes:] Denizens of North Dakota look like this. Yes, it’s Kellan Lust — I mean, Lutz.  He’s from Dickinson.

Lutz is famous for taking off his shirt and showing off his body. In this case, as much of his body as he can show without crossing the line into X; #1 is a cock tease shot as well as an abs shot.

Lutz on this blog in 2010, in a note on the NYT  story “Stretching A Six-Pack: Could the Calvin Klein underwear model Kellan Lutz vault from billboards into Mark Wahlberg territory?”, by Eric Wilson:

Wilson manages to play with the tale of a young man whose career turns on his abdominal muscles and the package in the underwear he models without going overboard, but he can’t resist a few plays with language:

… Kellan Lutz, the abdominally gifted young actor [underwear models aspire to success as actors, and some, notably Mark Wahlberg, have achieved it in spades, while others (Travis Fimmel, for example) have gotten some exposure on television and in the movies; Lutz is just at the beginning of this career arc]

… to note just how far an actor can go be adhering to the simple example set forth by Mr. Wahlberg — the School of Marky Mark, if you will. The single lesson is success by six-pack.

No photo in that posting, but then Lutz reappears, in his Calvins and nothing else, in a 2012 posting on models in their Calvins, where I noted that there were plenty of hot images of a brooding Lutz, as in #1, available on the web (but also some more approachable ones).

On the man, from Wikipedia:

Kellan Christopher Lutz … is an American fashion model and actor for television and films. He is best known for playing Emmett Cullen in the Twilight Saga film series.

Lutz was born on March 15, 1985 [so he’s now 28] in Dickinson, North Dakota, the son of Karla and Bradley Lutz. He has one sister and six brothers. He grew up in North Dakota, the Midwest, and Arizona, and graduated from Horizon High School in Scottsdale before deciding to pursue an acting career.

… He is currently signed with Ford Models. He is one of the models featured in the 2010 Calvin Klein X underwear campaign.

… He enjoys extreme skateboarding, weight training, track, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, swimming, tennis, racquetball, badminton, snow skiing, snowboarding, dance, and numerous other activities. [He is certainly a physically active guy.] He also has a passion for horror films, and prefers to perform his own stunts when making films.

Now for more shirtless Kellan. First, removing his shirt (but keeping his Calvins on):

Then, again in his Calvins but now displaying his package:

  (#3)

Next, in jeans with a nice half-smile:

  (#4)

Last, a very hot pose — in Calvins, with a prominent package:

  (#5)

You can find plenty of shots of him doing ordinary fashion-model work: wearing casual clothing, suits, tuxedos, etc. And you can find him on television and in the movies. But he’s famous for being handsomely shirtless, especially in well-filled Calvins.
