Riffing and ripping on poetry

It hasn’t been a month, and Zippy is back on to Allen Ginsberg’s Howl:

That’s a riff on the first line of Howl:

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked,

You might find it entertaining to imagine how to transform the next few lines:

dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix,

angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night,

who poverty and tatters and hollow-eyed high sat up smoking in the supernatural darkness of cold-water flats floating across the tops of cities contemplating jazz

(I’m not sure whether Howl (or HOWL) is in the public domain.)

It’s been a few months since the last Zippy poetry slam.

But, but … what’s up with that shark-headed extraordinarily ripped surfer dude? Is this a new character in Zippy?
