Punnies #11

Today’s Bizarro:

As usual, three different sorts of word play: an elaborate punning variation on a familiar formula (“Chestnuts Roasting in an Open Fire”); a portmanteau (Nascar + escargot); and a simple pun on Tonto (which would be a subtle perfect pun for those who have an “open o” in Tonto).

There’s a part missing to the 3rd pun. It’s also intended to be a pun on “Loan Arranger”.

You may already be aware of this, but Josh Hartshorne, a grad student in Psychology at Harvard, just completed a nifty online study of puns. He’s posted his data for free here. and a discussion here.

The logos on the Nascargot racers also seem relevant – Morton Salt, FedEx, Bell System, and STP, at least. Gibson Guitars stumps me, though; better ask Dan Everett.
