(time for some bad-taste Headline News for Penises, entirely unsuitable for kids and the sexually modest)
It starts with the at least superficially modest advertising slogan (underlined below), in a Facebook pitch for Creed Fragrance that came by me on 7/12:
Aventus by Creed. Bright fruits and smoky woods, crafted into an unmistakable signature.
Background. A smoky wood (or simply smoky) scent is the scent of wood smoke; Anfar and Aradous both make a Smoky Wood fragrance (perfume / cologne), and then there’s Aventus. The scent is advertised with a strong horsey theme, heavy on stallions:
Raunchification: fruits and wood. My 9/11/25 posting “Entertaining raunch” is about raunchification — understanding innocent comments as raunchy double entendres: small but tasty is good, originally describing garden vegetables, understood as referring to sexual organs; my patio is visibly wet, taken to mean that my anus is lubed (for penetration).
Which brings us to fruits and wood. From NOAD:
noun fruit: 2. North American offensive a gay man.
phrase get wood: US vulgar slang have an erection. [AZ: hence morning wood ‘an erection on waking’ — or nocturnal penile tumescence, if you like things learnèd
And that gets us to the raunchification of bright fruits and smoky woods in the Headline News for Penises (I warned you this was coming):
Clever Homos Cruise
Hot Gangbangers,
Demand Harder, Deeper
Now for the actual scent Aventus, I’ll put the plain factual stuff off for a later posting.
