On the Z … Y watch

I am ever alert for words, especially names, with initial Z, even more with initial ZW or Z … W … And then of course Z … Y, for which ZIPPY (the Pinhead) is the standout name. And then the restaurant name Z & Y flashed by me in a Facebook ad (before it got deleted, like all ads). Not just a restaurant, but an excellent one, and in San Francisco’s Chinatown. From the street:

Z&Y, opened in 2008 by married couple Lijun Han and Michelle Zhang; Z and Y are the initials of Michelle’s last name and Chinese first name

And now the About page from the restaurant’s website, which is an unsurprising piece of puffery — let me emphasize that the restaurant does have an excellent reputation — made remarkable by having Every Single Word In It, Including The Articles, Capitalized:

Authentic Szechuan Chinese Restaurant In San Francisco

Founded In 2008, Z & Y Restaurant, The Award-Winning Chinese Culinary Destination In San Francisco’s Historic Chinatown, Offers Authentic Szechuan Dishes Created By Owner And Executive Chef Lijun Han.

Chef Han Has Served Two Chinese Presidents And Was The Former Executive Chef At The Chinese Consulate-General In San Francisco. With His Experience, Chef Han Utilizes Skillful Culinary Techniques To Showcase Compelling Szechuan Dishes, Which Has Earned The Restaurant A Bib Gourmand Michelin Ranking In 2012 And Has Retained The Status Since.

Z & Y Restaurant Has Been Included In Many Press, Including SF Eater, Thrillist, SF Chronicle, Forbes, And More. It Has Also Been Named One Of The Best Restaurants In San Francisco By San Francisco Magazine.

The Authentic Chinese Restaurant Is Located At 655 Jackson Street, Only A Brief Walk From The Financial District, Fisherman’s Wharf And Portsmouth Square, The Heart Of Chinatown.

I find it astonishingly tiring to read chunks of text printed in this fashion. Han and Zhang really need an editor. Now.

On the Z theme, maybe you’re interested to know about the Action retail discounter’s Ziki underwear brand, https://www.action.com/nl-nl/brand/ziki/ . Unfortunately I was unable to find an English version of their website

With the tag Dat zit wel goed ‘That’s fine / okay’.

Nice name, from the Zwicky point of view; but pedestrian underwear (as you know, I am an enthusiast of, um, premium men’s underwear).
