Surrogates

The 9/20/19 Wayno/Piraro Bizarro collabo (resurrected from my posting queue):

(#1) (If you’re puzzled by the odd symbols in the cartoon — Dan Piraro says there are 6  in this strip — see this Page.)

A surrogate for the human hand in the canine sensual act of belly-rubbing..

From NOAD:

noun surrogate: a substitute, especially a person deputizing for another in a specific role or office: she served as a surrogate for the President on a trip to South America.

More specifically, from Wikipedia, couched in extreme therapy-talk (bordering on self-parody):

Sex surrogates, sometimes referred to as surrogate partners, are practitioners trained in addressing issues of intimacy and sexuality. A surrogate partner works in collaboration with a therapist to meet the goals of their client. This triadic model is used to dually support the client: the client engages in experiential exercises and builds a relationship with their surrogate partner while processing and integrating their experiences with their therapist or clinician.

Here, the surrogates are actual human beings. But as in #1 for dogs, sexual surrogates for people are often  inanimate simulacra, sometimes quite elaborate creations.

From my 11/14/17 posting “Igor the Siberian shape-shifter”:

A number of companies offer life-like sexmanikins, lovedolls, whatever, but the top of the line seems to be the L.A.-based firm Sinthetics, which creates:

Life size, super realistic, anatomically correct, poseable silicone dolls. Possible uses include love, sex, companionship, display, photography, muse.

… there are a few body and face templates that can be varied along many dimensions, including skin color, eye color, hair style, clothing, jewelry, and for the male models, facial hair style, body hair (chest hair? hairy forearms? treasure trail?), and of course style of penis.

The Akira model, waist up for net modesty:

(#2)

(The nipple piercing is a nice realistic touch.)
