The last of the CD offers, five boxes (of 30-40 discs per box) of conversations between musical voices: chamber music, of many kinds (plus a few odd surprises, of discs that have turned up since earlier offers were put together).
Filtering out chamber music involving a piano — most, but not all, of these items went into offer #20, of keyboard music — these collections are heavy on string quartets, from many hands.
As before, each offer comes as a package, all or nothing: we’re ready to mail out a package for the cost of mailing and no more. If you want a collection, SEND E-MAIL to me (arnold.zwicky@gmail.com). With your postal address. Kim Darnell (drdcrunk.gmail.com) will then make arrangements for mailing and billing. (PLEASE PLEASE don’t reply as a Facebook comment or message or a WordPress comment, since this offer is going out in multiple places.)
You can ask for any number of boxes — name specific ones, or leave the choice to us.
For a change, we have organized this set of discs (more or less) alphabetically by artist rather than composer, since so many of the discs have works by multiple composers.
The inventory, very briefly characterized:
Box 1: from Ahn Trio, Alban Berg Quartet, and Martha Argerich to Anner Bylsma, Pablo Casals, and Delmé Quartet; in between, Joshua Bell and Budapest String Quartet, among others
Box 2: from Du Pré / Barenboim and Emerson String Quartet to Greer / Lubin / Chase and Guarneri String Quartet; Bartók. Ives, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Beethoven, and more
Box 3: from Guarneri String Quartet and Julliard String Quartet to Marlboro Ensemble and Kremer / Argerich; Mozart, Bach, Janáček, Berg, tons of Beethoven, and more
Box 4: from Kronos Quartet (14 discs!) to Oistrakh / Rostropovich / Richter and Perlman / Ashkenazy; wide variety in between
Box 5: from Prazak Quartet and St. Lawrence String Quartet to Takács Quartet and Tokyo String Quartet; Britten quartets in the middle
