Two pun cartoons this morning: a Bizarro Sunday Punnies collection, and a Zippy with a surprise in the last panel:

The Bizarro has two imperfect puns, both depending on formulaic language (the movie title Pirates of the Caribbean, the  idiom pardon my French), and one perfect pun (chick ‘young bird’ or slang ‘young woman’, in the snowclonelet X magnet).

The Zippy goes along for four panels in simple reminiscence, the fourth panel introducing the movie On the Waterfront. And then comes the surreal “I coulda been a container” — a punning reference to the famous scene in the film where Marlon Brando complains, “I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody”:

Maybe the full quote should be: “I coulda had glass. I coulda been a container.”
