Suicidal cats

A brief cartoon cat note — I have been pressed with other things, and am just barely hanging on — starting from a FB re-posting of an old  (9/15/12) Bizarro, in French:

(#1) Do not derange yourself; the original English version is soon to come

The message:

(#2) Meaning (here): don’t kill yourself

Gross digression. There are readers for whom this phrase inevitably echoes Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s “Relax” (1984), which is about delaying ejaculation, not avoiding suicide. As in my 6/16/12 posting “A gay pride”, with the refrain:

Relax don’t do it
When you want to go to it
Relax don’t do it
When you want to come

Back to suicidal cats. The English original:

(#2) The first part of the French goes “Suicide is not the solution”, not “I don’t think you’ve thought this through”; I’m inclined to the Englsh original.

Nine (or whatever) lives. From Wikipedia:

According to a myth in many cultures, cats have multiple lives. In many countries, they are believed to have nine lives, but in Italy, Germany, Greece, Brazil and some Spanish-speaking regions, they are said to have seven lives, while in Turkish and Arabic traditions, the number of lives is six. The myth is attributed to the natural suppleness and swiftness cats exhibit to escape life-threatening situations. Also lending credence to this myth is the fact that falling cats often land on their feet, using an instinctive righting reflex to twist their bodies around. Nonetheless, cats can still be injured or killed by a high fall.
