Personal note: my earlier burst of collage postings ran aground in 2012, in the face of my hip replacement surgery and the long (never really fully completed) recovery from it. Now, with Kim Darnell’s help, I’m going back to post the ones I never got around to four years ago.)
The background for the (very simple) collages in #2 is a vintage postcard from Florida with images of the Kigelia tree. (I think Steven Levine was the source of the postcard, but at this distance in time I’m not sure.) From Wikipedia:
Kigelia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Bignoniaceae. The genus comprises only one species, Kigelia africana, which occurs throughout tropical Africa from Eritrea and Chad south to northern South Africa, and west to Senegal and Namibia. The Kigelia grows a fruit that grows up to 2 feet long, weighs about 15 lbs, and looks like sausage.
… The genus name comes from the Mozambican Bantu name, kigeli-keia, while the common names sausage tree and cucumber tree refer to the long, sausage-like fruit.
… Some birds are attracted to [the] flowers and the strong stems of each flower make ideal footholds. Their scent is most notable at night indicating that they are adapted to pollination by bats, which visit them for pollen and nectar. They also remain open by day however, and are freely visited by many insect pollinators, particularly large species such as carpenter bees.

Linguistic note: the etymology suggests that it should be one kigelia, two vigelia, with the Bantu inflectional pattern sg ki-, pl vi-; cf. Swahili kitu ‘thing’ pl vitu.
Now for some sexy playfulness, already hinted at in the title of this posting. First, from chapter 2 of The Song of Solomon, in the KJV, slightly perverted here:
As the sausage tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.
More complex, a gay burlesque of the song “Lemon Tree”:
Sausage tree very pretty, and its night-time flower is sweet, plus the fruit of the kigelia looks like something you’d just love to eat.
As for Bangers & Mash on AZBlogX: British food (with a risibly racy name) , bilingual phallicity, reinforced by real dicks (hard and in action), decorated by stickers. Not for kids or the sexually modest.
