Cartoon stubble

Today’s Zippy, with more meta-cartooning:

That’s not real, follicular stubble, just cartoon stubble.

The Zippy character Claude Funston is also facially scruffy, much more so than Zippy:

Claude’s scruff is cross-hatching rather than dots.

    Today’s paper was chock-full of comic strips about being comic strips, what with the above-mentioned “Zippy” plus Arlo and Janis (continuing a week-long theme) and Adam.
