Olympic exposure

Continuing coverage of the Olympic games in London, two photos of rowers: a Canadian team with their silver medal (passed on to me by Chris Ambidge), and a U.S. team with a bronze (from Imgur):

It’s all about the moose knuckles.

Moose Knuckle is a slang term that refers to the outline of a human male’s genitals showing through clothes at the crotch. (link)

More discussion in my Posting “Bulges”, here. (This continues to be one of my most-viewed postings.)

Some athletic wear lends itself to the display of moose knuckles; the Canadian rowers are pretty much an ordinary example. But one of the Americans, um, stands out. A comment from this man:

This is me and I swear it’s not erect! I don’t know why it ended up in that position but there you go.

Other commenters went on to revel in language play: coining compounds, committing puns, portmanteaus, rhymes, and alliterations, and running through synonyms for penis and erection. A sample:

victory boner [with boner ‘erection’]; rowin’ and showin’ [based on growing or showing, i.e., having a penis that is small when soft but grows considerably on erection, vs. one that is large to start with]; success erection; winning wood [with wood ‘erect penis’]; Olympdick [portmanteau]; triumph chubby [with chubby ‘erect penis’]; celebration inflation [rhyming]; jubilation popsicle [with metaphorical popsicle]; celebratory hardon; rower’s rod [alliteration]; podium penis [alliteration]; victerection [portmanteau]

The urge to language play is very strong.
