These are event-filled times. May Day on Tuesday. Yesterday, the sad Kent State Day (“Four dead in O-hi-o”), regularly remembered in my household; we were in Ohio at the time, and in the midst of Vietnam protests and campus upheavals. Also, as my daughter reminds me, Star Wars Day (“May the Fourth be with you” — ouch). Today is both Cinco de Mayo (parade in Palo Alto, with bands from local schools, including my grand-daughter’s) and Derby Day (always an event in my Kentucky-connected household).

We celebrate the fifth of My in our house as Blue Rodeo day, after their album Five Days in May. We also celebrate Convoy day on the sixth of June.
