Now we are 85

I’m a few weeks away from 85, a landmark 🎶Sir Richard Starkey🎶 reached a month ago, leading to this:

(#1) New Yorker Shouts & Murmurs column “When I’m Ninety-Five” by Bruce Handy and Jay Martel (on-line on 8/11/25; published in the 8/18/25 issue), with 13 updated lyrics

One of the 13 parodies, one that’s about age:

(#2) The model is “When I’m Sixty Four” (released 6/1/67): Will you still need me, will you still feed me, / When I’m sixty four?

About the New Yorker‘s parodists:

Bruce Handy is the author of “Hollywood High: A Totally Epic, Way Opinionated History of Teen Movies” (2025) and the picture book “There Was a Shadow” (2024), illustrated by Lisk Feng.

Jay Martel is the author of the novel “The Present.” A film adaptation, which he also wrote, was released in May, 2024.
