Two memorable actors

Two actors whose memorable faces and voices I recently recognized in tv shows (without knowing their names): very recently in the new show Blindspot, a little while back in NCIS: New Orleans. Both women, both black, both with family histories in the West Indies, both with their early education in England, both now working primarily in American television. Marianne Jean-Baptiste in Blindspot and C. C. H. Pounder in NCIS: New Orleans.

First, the shows:

Blindspot is an American drama television series created by Martin Gero, starring Jaimie Alexander and Sullivan Stapleton. The series was ordered by NBC on May 1, 2015, and premiered on September 21, 2015.

Blindspot focuses on a mysterious tattooed woman who has lost her memory and does not know her own identity. The FBI discovers that each tattoo contains a clue to a crime they will have to solve. (Wikipedia link)

Marianne Jean-Baptiste plays Bethany Mayfair, Assistant Director of the FBI.

NCIS: New Orleans is an American television series combining elements of the military drama and police procedural genres that premiered on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, following its parent series NCIS. … The series is set and filmed in New Orleans. It is the third member of the NCIS franchise.

… Dr. Loretta Wade (portrayed by C. C. H. Pounder) is the Medical Examiner of Jefferson Parish whose office is contracted by NCIS for autopsies and forensics. She is a graduate of Harvard University and moved down to New Orleans after completing medical school.(Wikipedia link)

(I came to NCIS: New Orleans via Scott Bakula, who I posted on back in August.)

On the actors, very briefly:

Marianne Ragipcien Jean-Baptiste (born 26 April 1967) is an English actress, singer-songwriter, composer and director, best known for her roles as Hortense Cumberbatch in Secrets & Lies (1996), for which she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, and as Vivian Johnson on the American television series Without a Trace. Looking very serious (there are also glamorous shots of her):

(#1)

I remembered her from Without a Trace.

Carol Christine Hilaria Pounder (born December 25, 1952), known professionally as C. C. H. Pounder (styled “CCH Pounder”), is a Guyanese-born American film and television actress. She has appeared in numerous films, made-for-television films, television miniseries and plays, and has made guest appearances on notable television shows. From 2002 to 2008, she starred as Detective Claudette Wyms in the FX police drama The Shield. In 2009, she appeared as Mo’at in James Cameron’s film Avatar. She starred in recurring roles as Mrs. Irene Frederic on the TV series Warehouse 13 until its series finale on May 19, 2014 and DA Tyne Patterson on the FX TV series Sons of Anarchy. Currently she portrays medical examiner, Dr. Loretta Wade, on NCIS: New Orleans. (Wikipedia link)

(#2)

I recognized her especially from the series ER, where she played Dr. Angela Hicks.
