Don Rosa

Following on Disney cartoonist Carl Barks comes Don Rosa, like Barks a story-teller; the humor in Rosa’s work is mostly in the way the stories unfold, and is otherwise the humor of character — and it’s largely visual rather than verbal.

About the cartoonist, from Wikipedia:

Keno Don Hugo Rosa, known simply as Don Rosa … born June 29, 1951), is an American comic book writer and illustrator known for his stories about Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck and other Disney characters. Many of his stories are built on characters and locations created by Carl Barks, including the story that brought him to fame as a modern Disney artist — the Harvey Award-nominated comic, The Son of the Sun.

He is often considered a “successor” of sorts to Barks and is highly regarded by fans of Disney comics for his work illustrating the Duck universe. He has created about 90 stories between 1987 and 2006. In 1995 he won the Eisner Award for “Best Serialized Story” for his 12-chapter work The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck.

One panel (from Life and Times, I believe) that can stand on its own:

The humor here comes the penurious Scrooge measuring out (and charging for) the pasta by the centimeter. (Note that the cheese is in a container with a lock on it — presumably because it is also sold in tiny amounts.

U Giancu is a famous restaurant, in Rapallo (in Liguria). The actual U Giancu has generous servings, by the way. In addition, it’s a cartoons [fumetti] restaurant (I leave the restaurant’s English untouched):

In a famous Cartoons Restaurant, surrounded by original drawings of most celebrated cartoonists, it is possible to learn the basic techniques of cartoons drawings, with the assistance of professional cartoonists that will disclose the secrets of this popular art.

The atmosphere is particularly stimulating, being the location of one of the most beloved restaurant, patronized by famous cartoonists coming from all over the world [including Barks and Rosa], where it is possible to combine pleasure of art and food, tasting special recipes of one of the most original restaurateur of the area. Pasta, lamb, substantial desserts, among other things.
