Thank you for those soothing words, Gadi. You might not know that I’m seized up with anxiety at giving this paper: I haven’t spoken before an audience, of any kind, for five years, and the things I write about now are apparently of no consequence for either theoretical linguistics or sociolinguistics, though my quirky postings do have some fans among my colleagues in linguistics.
On the other hand, about half the presenters at the conference took courses from me at Stanford, so I expect the audience to be generous and forgiving. As for the rest of the audience, maybe I can offer them a moment of post-lunch entertainment.

Having a friendly audience always helps. And a bit of snoclone quirk sounds like an interesting talk to me. Hopefully once you’re up there presenting, you’ll be able to relax and enjoy yourself.
